Do I need Beard Oil or Beard Shampoo & Conditioner for my mustache?
Zeus recommends a beard shampoo and conditioner for mustaches as they are formulated for facial hair and skin. We now offer a 4oz bottle of each to cater to our mustached and goatee’d gods.
Beard Oil can be helpful to a mustache in two ways. If your facial hair tends to grow thick and causes irritation or redness, applying a little bit of beard oil will bring relief. Our Clarifying Beard Oil is formulated for those with blemish or ingrown hair prone skin.
Beard Oil can also come in hand to remove both our Firm and Mega Hold waxes. These waxes are made to stay, and our community has advised that a few drops of beard oil before showering helps break up wax and reset that ‘stache.
Can I use a Beard Trimmer to shape my mustache?
This isn’t the move. Beard Trimmers are designed to cover a larger area, and to cut multiple hairs at the same time. Their blade aggression may also leave the ends of your whiskers damaged, making them hard to control.
Investing in a pair of quality beard & mustache trimming scissors will help your mustache grow healthier and make it easier to retain the mustache style you love. You’ll be able to have total control- even when it’s just to cut that one random long boi hair that appeared from nowhere.
How often should I trim my mustache?
Considering your 'stached goals are most important. Trimming is apart of any healthy hair routine, it is just up to you how long you'd like your stache to grow. Those looking for a more casual look should trim when hair reaches just over the top lip line. Don't forget to use a comb to ensure that any wild hidden hairs are straightened out.
If your goal is to have a mustache that has its own personality, trimming less and training more should be your focus. Start with keeping sides uniform as it grows, then begin utilizing mustache wax. Less frequent trims will be key in this context.
What's the best mustache care routine?
If you’re just starting off, wash and condition your mustache once or twice a week. After washing, add a few drops of beard oil to boost moisture. It is best that mustache waxes are not applied directly after working in beard oil. Oil may cause some waxes not to hold correctly.
One wax does not fit all, or even all phases of mustache growth. Our light hold is great to get things going as it provides both hold and nourishment to hair. Next up would be our Firm Hold. You should graduate to this wax once mustache hair is long enough to reach or hang over your upper lip.
